Description
STAR ANISE – Illicium Vorum Hook, commonly called star anise, badian or Chinese badian, is obtained from the pericarp of the star-shaped fruit of an evergreen tree up to 15 meters high. Originally from Vietnam, it contains anethole, the same active ingredient that gives anise its characteristic flavor and makes it indispensable in Asian cuisine. In Europe it is commonly used in cocktails and confectionery.
